This unique plantation hideout features three luxury studios, a dining room, a special breakfast area on a covered bridge, common fire-place, reading room, semi-outdoor yoga deck, swimming pool and 100 acres of lush green cardamom plantation. The rooms have attached bathrooms; some with courtyards enclosed which are partially open to sky. All the rooms have views of the plantation and the stream, birdsong, aroma of cardamom & wildflowers …
The common-room with fire place is an ideal cosy corner for evenings, and to pass the time over a glass of wine or a drink. This living room is right above the stream, so you feel as if you were in a cave with a fire, on the bank of a river in a forest!
The dining room can accommodate eight people at a time. It has two large windows, one side offering the view of the huge pond and the other side the green plantation. Apart from the dining hall, one can choose to breakfast on the covered-bridge over the stream, or dine on the deck near the pool – a barbeque, perhaps?
Traditional Kerala food, along with select Indian and continental dishes are served as in a home. Meals will be simple and robust; choices will not be elaborate. Each day’s menu will be written out on the black-board kept on the covered-bridge. We’ll discuss the menu with you, and try to serve food that you request (if we know how to cook it)! Of course, this may not be always feasible when we have too much of a divergence of opinions among our guests; then we’ll just decide for you!
The ingredients are sourced fresh from the local village market so menu will depend oftentimes on availability. We do not use or recommend artificial colors or flavoring agents (such as MSG) in cooking. At Mayapott, our guests are most welcome to suggest their own recipes, or themselves cook for their loved ones, even; the chef in charge will be happy to assist you -perhaps just a simple appetizing salad or a yummy sinful dessert!
